• The government today announced that carrying the original Driving Licence and Car’s Registration Certificate is not necessary, and a Digital copy saved on the DigiLocker or mParivahan app can be shown while checking by the traffic cops.

• PM Modi has announced a financial aid of Rs 1,000 crore to Indian Institute of Technology Bombay while attending the convocation ceremony.

• The World Bank has mandated the Commonwealth Bank of Australia to arrange the first bond globally to be created, allocated, transferred and managed using Blockchain technology. World Bank aims to raise up to $73 million through the two-year bond.

• Defence Minister launched a defence industrial corridor in Aligarh, UP. The move is part of government’s efforts to develop specialized zones dedicated to defence production in the state.

• Axis Bank has become the first bank in the country to introduce Iris Scan Authentication feature for Aadhaar-based transactions through its micro ATM tablets. Currently, it is being run as a pilot project in 8 branches.

• Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has entered into a bancassurance deal with Vijaya Bank. This will enable distribution of insurance products of Bajaj Allianz through the bank’s network of branches across the country.

• The government has launched a web portal called ‘PENCIL’ for effective implementation of the National Child Labour Project. PENCIL (Platform for Effective Enforcement for No Child Labour) – an electronic platform for no child labour in the country has been developed by the Labour Ministry. PENCIL portal has five components – Child Tracking System, Complaint Corner, State Government, National Child Labour Project and Convergence.
