• The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees today declared that Migrants do not have the unfettered right to choose their host nation.

• Infosys Foundation, the philanthropic arm of IT major, Infosys, signed a MoU with the Bengalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited for construction of a station at Konappana Agrahara in Electronics City. The foundation has committed to maintain the station for the next 30 years.

• Lok Sabha has passed The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Second Amendment) Bill, 2017 to abolish the ‘no detention policy’ in schools.

• An agreement was signed between IIT Delhi and the All India Institute of Ayurveda under which projects would be launched that would aim to give ‘scientific validation’ to the ancient medical science and integrate it with technology.

• Lok Sabha has passed the Fugitive Economic Offenders Bill, 2018. The bill aims to allow authorities to attach and confiscate properties of economic offenders who flee the country.

• Myanmar joined the India-initiated International Solar Alliance, thus becoming the 68th signatory to the Framework Agreement of the ISA that aims for optimum utilization of solar energy.

• Noted Hindi poet and lyricist Dr Gopaldas Neeraj passed away. He was felicitated with the Padma Shri in 1991 and with the Padma Bhushan in 2007 for his contribution to literature.

• Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh announced a Chhattisgarh Online Pension Management System. The app is called ‘Abhar aapki sewa ka’ and through this app, 80,000 pensioners of the state will now get all the information related to pension and payment online.

• Repco Micro Finance Ltd, a NBFC, has received NABARD 2018 Award for its service to Self-Help Group linkage in Tamil Nadu.

• Government has announced the launch of a new MicroDot Technology that would help check the vehicle thefts. Under this thousands of small dots laser etched will be sprayed with a vehicle identification number on all over the vehicle’s body including the engine. This technology is yet to be finalized by the highest automobile technical standard making body CMVR-TSC.

• NTPC has signed a term loan agreement of Rs 1,500 crore with HDFC Bank. The loan has a door-to-door tenure of 15 years and will be utilized to partly finance capital expenditure of NTPC.

• Indian captain Virat Kohli has achieved a career-high 911 points to sit on Top of the ICC ODI rankings for Batsmen.

• National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) is running ‘Ganga Vriksharopan Abhiyan’ in five main stem Ganga basin states namely Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

• The government has formed a committee comprising officials of the environment ministry, experts from NEERI, IITs and various other forums to look into the issue of industrial pollution around the iconic Taj Mahal. The committee will be headed by C K Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

• Tilak Mehta, a 13 year old boy from Mumbai, has launched a logistics startup called ‘Papers n Parcels’ to carry parcels within the Mumbai City for same day delivery. It has partnered with the Dubbawalas of Mumbai.
