• Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry is developing National Logistics Portal to ensure ease of trading in international and domestic markets. The portal will link all stakeholders of EXIM, domestic trade and movement and all trade activities on the single platform.

• The Odisha government has tied up with Japan for its mega investment Conclave 2018 to take place in November this year. The state has already identified 600 acres near capital city Bhubaneswar that could serve as a dedicated industrial park for Japanese investors.

• India and Singapore have signed the Second Protocol amending the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement which will boost bilateral trade between the two countries. Both sides agreed to expand the coverage of tariff concessions, liberalize the Rules of Origin, rationalize Product Specific Rules and include provisions on Certificate of Origin and Cooperation on its verification.

• Exercise Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Peace Mission 2018, the latest in ‘Peace Mission’ series formally started at Chebarkul, Russia. The military contingents of the all eight SCO member nations are participating in this exercise.

• Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad has launched “Fabless Chip Design Incubator (FabCI)”, an exclusive incubator to boost chip design. It is first of its kind in India that will focus on creating an ecosystem for start-ups in chip design.

• Former President Pranab Mukharjee launched National Electoral Transformation (NETA) mobile application that allows voters to rate and review their political representatives. The app is the brainchild of 27-year-old entrepreneur Pratham Mittal.

• External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will begin a four-day tour of Vietnam and Cambodia with an aim to deepen India’s strategic cooperation with the two key nations in the ASEAN region.

• Renowned aerospace scientist G Satheesh Reddy has been appointed as the Chairman of the DRDO for a period of two years.

• Tejinderpal Singh has won gold in the shot put by 20.75-metre mark in Asian Games 2018.

• The World Bank launched ‘bond-I’, the world’s first bond to be created, allocated, transferred and managed by using distributed ledger technology.

• Union Government is going to spend Rs 400 crore on 600 projects under SPARC. Under the scheme to forge international research partnerships, the Human Research Development Ministry will fund 600 projects in top-ranked institutes.
