• The FICCI Ladies Organisation, the women’s wing of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FICCI) has launched a mobile application titled WOW (Wellness of Women). The aim of this app is to create awareness on preventive health care for women across the country.

• Ranchi-based software developer Ranjit Srivastava is developing the world’s first Hindi-speaking humanoid robot. Named Rashmi, the AI-powered robot can also speak Bhojpuri, Marathi, and English, and is equipped with facial expression and recognition systems.

• RBI has barred Fino Payments Bank from adding new customers. An RBI audit revealed that some accounts had deposits in excess of the stipulated amount of Rs 1 lakh.

• The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the government’s decision to reduce its stake in IDBI Bank below 50%, with Life Insurance Corporation raising its stake in the bank to 51%.

• Kadaknath chicken meat from Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh has received GI tag in “Meat Product, Poultry & Poultry Meat” category.

• Indian economy is expected to grow at the rate of 7.5% in this financial year according to a Morgan Stanley report. The report expects GDP growth to pick up to 7.5% in this financial year as against 6.7% in 2017-18.

• Mauritius-based SBM Group has received RBI’s approval to operate in the country through a wholly-owned subsidiary route. It is the first foreign lender to receive such a licence after local incorporation was introduced in 2013.

• NABARD has sanctioned Rs 772 crore for eight water projects in the rural areas of Haryana. Works on these projects which will supply water to 256 villages and 72 hamlets.

• TRAI has announced a mega spectrum auction of 5G services at a pan-India reserve price of about Rs 492 crore per MHz for the first time in India.

• Indian Railways was praised by the World Economic Forum for its solar train launched which helped to keep the environment clean.

• Ministry of MSME has launched the Mission Solar Charkha for implementation of 50 Solar Charkha Clusters across the country with the budget to Rs 550 crore for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20. The scheme will generate direct employment to nearly one lakh persons.

• The naval prototype 2 of LCA Tejas successfully landed on the Shore Based Test Facility in Goa. This trial is a milestone towards completion of CCT trials of LCA Navy. The Arrestor Hook System for Ship Deck operations of LCA Naval version was designed and developed by Aircraft Research and Design Centre (ARDC) wing of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.

• China has proposed to conduct military drills with the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) members in the South China Sea. The country also proposed undertaking joint oil and gas exploration in the sea.
