• Ivanka Trump unveiled an effort aimed at helping 50 million women in the developing world get ahead economically over the next six years.

• The Uttar Pradesh government allocated Rs.1,200 crore for a scheme for girls and Rs.612 crore for stray cattle and construction of cow shelters in its budget for 2019-20 financial year ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

• Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled a 19-foot-high statue of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism, at Jirang in Gajapati district, Berhampur, Odisha.

• The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for the disposal and management of solid waste in its jurisdiction.

• Robert Bosch Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (RBC-DSAI), a Centre for research on data science and artificial intelligence, has been established at the Indian Institute of Technology- Madras. RBC-DSAI will receive an estimated investment of Rs. 20 crore over a period of five years.

• Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, is to inaugurate five national highway projects worth Rs.7,195 crore in Ayodhya. These projects include a 262-km stretch connecting Ayodhya to Chitrakoot, which will be developed at a cost of Rs.2,020 crore.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch DD Arunaprabha in Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar on 9th February. DD Arunaprabha is India’s public service broadcaster Doordarshan’s exclusive channel based in Arunachal Pradesh.

• The meeting of the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) central board, which was scheduled to take a call on an interim dividend, has been deferred to February 18 from February 9.

• As per Oil Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, India become the second largest importer of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) after China due to rising demands of cleaner alternatives to the traditional cooking fuels like firewood and cow dung.

• US Chambers of Commerce released the annual International IP Index of top 50 economies in the world, in the index, India climbed 8 positions up to the 36th rank and USA, as the lead.

• Indian Coast Guard(ICG) and Airport Authority of India (AAI) signed a MoU with an objective to coordinate the aeronautical and maritime Search And Rescue(SAR) operations in congruence with the International Aeronautical Maritime Search And Rescue(IAMSAR) standards.

• The 7th edition of the film festival began on February 7 th of 2019 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra. It is an eight-day festival, in which Veteran actress Rohini Hattangadi is the chief guest at the inaugural function.

• Delhi Government launched ‘Zero Fatality Corridor’ project under its annual road safety action plan to reduce the number of road accidents on the outer ring road stretch between Burari and Bhalaswa Chowk.

• Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) organized Parmanu Tech 2019 in New Delhi to discuss the issues related to Nuclear Energy and Radiation Technologies.

• Sahapedia in partnership with UNESCO organized the second edition of India Heritage Walk Festival (IHWF) 2019. It is also supported by the National Mineral Development Corporation. The first edition of the festival, went on to receive the PATA Gold Awards 2018 in Heritage and Culture.

• Fino Payments Bank (FPB) announced the launch of a sweep account facility in association with Suryoday Small Finance Bank (SSFB). This partnership will help FPB address the issue of deposit limits that all the payment banks face at the moment.

• Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for petroleum and natural gas, inaugurated the 2019 Asia LPG summit in New Delhi. The summit organized jointly by the major Indian oil marketing companies (OMCs) Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum together with the World LPG Association (WLPGA).
