Unemployed youths in Andhra to now get Rs 1,000 monthly allowance

• The Chandrababu Naidu-led Andhra Pradesh government has decided to give an allowance of Rs 1,000 per month to all the unemployed youth in the state under the “Mukhyamantri Yuva Nestam” scheme. Any unemployed youth with a degree or diploma between the age of 22 and 35 can avail the benefit.

• The website for registration will be launched before the end of this month and the disbursement of allowance will start after 15 days of registration. The disbursement will be made directly to the beneficiary’s bank account.

• The governments said as many as 12 lakh youth are likely to be benefitted with this scheme. The Cabinet has also decided to fill 20,000 job vacancies, 9000 teacher posts, and vacancies in other departments.

• The state, already reeling under a huge fiscal deficit and fighting for a special category state against the Centre, will have to bear an additional financial burden of Rs 8,000 crore due to this scheme.
