[AspirantWorld Explained] PM eVidya Programme for digital education launched in India

• Amid Covid-19 lockdown the country is facing a huge loss. A big loss is faced by the students all across the world. To curb this loss the government has come with a programme called PM eVidya to resume their studies.
• Apart from the eVidya programme, the Finance Minister also announced that new DTH channels would be launched under the Swayam Prabha. To cater to the students without the internet the programmes would now have 8 more channels.
• Work on Special content for visually impaired and those who can’t hear is also under work.

Key Highlights of Programme:

• Through PM eVidya the focus is on technology driven education in the country.
• Top 300 Universities across the country has given permission to start online course.
• Keeping in mind the motive of “One Class One Channel” One channel per class from Std. 1 to 12 will deliver online educational content.
• Radio, Community Radio and Podcasts will be used on a large scale to cover every nook and corner of the country.
• ‘Manodarpan’; a initiative to provide psychological support to students, teachers and families will be launched soon to provide mental and emotional support.
• New National Curriculum and pedagogical framework would be launched with integrated global 21st century skill requirements for schools – early childhood and teachers to be benefited by it.
• DIKSHA – One Nation, One Digital Platform for school in States and Union Territories will provide e-content and QR coded textbooks for all classes.
• DIKSHA has content in 14 languages
• VidyaDaan; a common national program for individuals and organizations across the country to donate e-learning resources for school education to ensure continuity of quality learning.
