• KV Subramanian, Chief Economic Adviser (CEA), has chosen to resign after completing his three-year term within the Finance Ministry of India. KV Subramanian took over the command of Chief Economic Adviser on 2018 7 December.

• IEA has asked India to become its full-time member as it is the world’s third-largest energy consumer. If this proposal is accepted, India will increase its strategic oil reserve to 90 days. Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri held negotiations with IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol.

• The New Government of Tunisia was Unveiled by President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, On 11 October. The President of Tunesia had seized power and control of the country in July 2021, regarding which no clues were given on when it would end.

• National Award-winning actor Nedumudi Venu has died at the age of 73 at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on 11 October. Nedumudi Venu was born on 22 May 1948 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. Nedumudi Venu began his career as a stage artist with the plays of Kavalam Narayana Panicker.

• Karuppur Kalamkari Paintings and Kallakuruchi wood carvings have received the Geographical Indication (GI) tag. The Geographical Indications Registry gave this certificate based on the application registered by Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation (Poompuhar).

• Multidimensional Poverty Index Report 2021 was released by UNDP and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI). The report estimates multidimensional poverty across 109 developing countries, with data from surveys ranging from 2009 to 2020.

• Clove spice grown within the hills of Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu has been awarded a geographical indication (GI) as ‘Kanyakumari clove’. In India, the entire production of cloves is 1,100 metric tons.

• World Arthritis Day is commemorated on 12 October to boost awareness about arthritis. Arthritis, an inflammatory condition that causes joint pain and stiffness that will worsen with age. This was started by Arthritis and Rheumatism International (ARI) in 1996 to spread awareness about arthritis and encourage policymakers.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a discussion with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson regarding the Progress On India-UK Agenda 2030. The two leaders evaluated the progress in bilateral relations since their virtual summit earlier this year.

• The Doon Drone Mela 2021 was launched by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Minister launched the event with a paragliding demonstration and interacted with the drone companies exhibiting their prototypes at the Doon Drone Mela.

• Prime Minister Modi is set to participate in the G20 Extraordinary Leaders’ Summit On Afghanistan on 12 October. Prime Minister will attend the summit virtually on 12 October at 4 PM. The Agenda of the meeting comprises of a discussion on response to humanitarian needs and access to essential services and livelihood.
