• The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is building the world’s longest bi-lane road tunnel, the “Sela Tunnel,” on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang (BCT) road as part of Project Vartak. The Sela tunnel is being built on the Indo-China border at a height of 13,800 feet. It is being built on the 317-kilometer BCT road. The BCT route connects Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng, West Kameng, and Tawang districts to the rest of India. It is being built to provide Tawang with all-weather connectivity. The tunnel would also allow for more efficient movement of troops and weapons along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Sela Tunnel connects Tawang and West Kameng districts by cutting through the Sela–Charbela ridge.

• From the year 2021, the Karnataka government has celebrated ‘Onake Obavva Jayanti’ on 11 November. Kannada and Culture Department proposed that Onake Obavva’s birth anniversary be commemorated. In the 18th century, Onake Obavva was a woman-soldier who fought against Hyder Ali’s army in Chitradurga. The events will be funded by the state.

• China’s ruling Communist Party (CCP) passed a rare ‘historical resolution’ praising the president’s pivotal role in the country’s regeneration. President Xi Jinping’s hold on power has been strengthened by this decision. In the CCP’s 100-year existence, this is the third resolution of its type. The other two resolutions were passed during the reigns of Mao Zedong, who brought the Communists to power in 1949, and Deng Xiaoping, whose reforms transformed China into an economic powerhouse in the 1980s. This resolution, according to observers, was passed to boost Xi’s standing to that of Mao and Deng. After the CCP repealed presidential term limits in 2018, it will aid in assuring his political future.

• On November 11, the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, National Education Day is observed. This day is frequently commemorated in schools by holding a variety of functions and programs. Since 2008, this day has been observed. On September 11, 2008, the Ministry of Human Resources Development declared September 11th to be National Education Day, honoring Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birthday and remembering his contributions to Indian education.

• On November 10, the German watch released the “Climate Change Performance Index 2022” in partnership with Climate Action Network (CAN) and New Climate Institute. On the sidelines of COP26, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, a report was released (UNFCCC). According to the CCPI 2022, major emitting economies that announced their Net Zero-emission ambitions performed poorly in terms of climate change performance in 2021. India remained ranked 10th in the index. India has maintained its position as one of the G20’s top performers.
