• Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd (RCF), a PSU under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers has started its Methanol Plant at Trombay Unit, Mumbai. RCF has the capacity to produce 242 MT of Methanol per day. Till now, RCF has been importing Methanol for its internal consumption and also for trading purposes. With Methanol production of its own, RCF shall no longer be dependent on imports for its own requirement and will also be in a position to satisfy the needs of other Methanol dependent industries.

• Different courts recently gave conflicting rulings involving the broadcast of two shows — a programme on Sudarshan TV and the Netflix documentary Bad Boy Billionaires. These raise questions on the fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression, and whether these can be restrained prior to broadcast or publishing. Prior restraint is prohibiting the exercise of free speech before it can take place.

• PM Modi launched the e-Gopala App, a comprehensive breed improvement marketplace and information portal for direct use of farmers. E-Gopala app will be a digital medium which will help livestock owners to choose advanced livestock’s. This app will give all information related to productivity, health and diet to the cattle owners.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched PM Matsya Sampada Yojana in Bihar through video conferencing. It is being launched in 21 States of the country with an investment of Rs 20,000 Crores which would be spent in the next 4-5 Years. The scheme provides for new infrastructure, modern equipment and access to new markets to the fish producers, along with increased opportunities for through farming as well as other means.

• Amid debate over “imposition of languages”, official data point to over 50% of students completing their secondary level of education with one of 12 Indian languages and senior secondary level with one of eight home languages, other than English, as the medium of instruction. According to the National Statistical Organisation’s (NSO) latest report on education, 70% or more students whose home language is Assamese, Bengali and Gujarati completed their school education in these vernacular languages.

• Union Power Minister laid foundation stone for construction of LILO of Kishenganj-Darbhanga 400kV Transmission Line at Saharsa in Bihar. The execution agency for the ₹ 100 crore worth project is POWERGRID Ltd., a central PSU under Ministry of Power. On completion of the Kishenganj-Darbhanga 400kV Transmission Line project, Power scenario of the Saharsa district including Supaul, Khagaria and Begusarai districts shall improve.
