• For a waste project, two teenage Indian brothers won the Children’s Peace Prize. Vihaan (17) and Nav Agarwal (14) of Delhi have won the 17th annual KidsRights International Children’s Peace Prize for their efforts to reduce pollution in their hometown by recycling household waste. Kailash Satyarthi, the Indian Nobel Peace Prize recipient, presented the couple with the prestigious medal.

• The Indian government has passed two laws that will allow the directors of the CBI and ED to serve for up to five years. The chiefs of both agencies are currently given a two-year term. On November 14, 2021, the government issued the “Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021” as well as the “Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Ordinance, 2021.” CBI and ED directors cannot be removed before their terms expire, according to the ordinance.

• On November 13, 2021, the State Cabinet of Arunachal Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, designated “Kaiser-i-Hind” as the state butterfly. The Kaiser-i-Hind’ butterfly is a huge and colourful butterfly. It’s an elusive swallowtail butterfly that goes by the name of ‘India.’ It is native to China, and it has since been designated as Arunachal Pradesh’s state butterfly. For the first time, the government held a Cabinet meeting outside of Itanagar. Pakke Tiger Reserve hosted the event.

• On November 16, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the keynote address at the first Audit Diwas. The first edition of the Audit Diwas will be commemorated to commemorate the institution of CAG’s historic beginnings and contributions to governance, transparency, and accountability. The event will take place at the CAG headquarters. The PM will also unveil a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion.

• On November 15, 2021, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced its Wholesale Price Index (WPI) statistics. Provisional Wholesale Price Index (WPI)-based inflation increased to a five-month high of 12.54 percent in October 2021, compared to 66 percent in September. An increase in gasoline and manufacturing prices was blamed for the increase. The benchmark inflation has been in double digits for seven months in a row. The benchmark inflation rate in October 2020 was 1.31 percent.

• India successfully launched the 41st Scientific Expedition to Antarctica, recently. The first detachment of Indians arrived on the white continent’s southern tip. The first batch includes 23 scientists and support personnel. They recently arrived at the Indian Antarctic station Maitri. Using the DROMLAN facility, four further batches will land in Antarctica by air. They’ll arrive onboard the chartered ice-class vessel MV Vasiliy Golovnin in mid-January 2021.

• The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to lend $61 million to the Indian Govt. to enhance living conditions, stimulate new developments in Agartala. A loan agreement was reached between India and the Asian Development Bank for the Agartala City After Urban Development Project. This initiative is in line with the Smart City Mission’s objective of improving urban infrastructure services. It will improve Agartala’s liveability by improving road connectivity, implementing flood-resilient measures, and enhancing the appeal of tourism attractions.
