• Goa Liberation day is commemorated on 19 December every year. On 19 December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid a visit to Goa to join the Goa Liberation Day celebrations. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Goa hosted the events. The prime minister congratulated the liberation warriors and veterans of ‘Operation Vijay.’ Every year on 19 December, Goa Liberation Day is commemorated. This day commemorates the success of the Indian Armed Forces’ ‘Operation Vijay,’ which liberated Goa from Portuguese domination.

• West Bengal has topped the chart in the significant states category on the Index on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy. States are grouped into four categories: large states, small states, the North East, and Union Territories, according to Index. • In a surprising sighting on 15 December, forest personnel rescued a barn owl in the Supaul area of Bihar. Barn owls are typically found in the United States, the United Kingdom, and other parts of Europe and are rare in the Indian subcontinent. Tyto alba, the scientific name for the Barn Owl, is the world’s most widely spread owl species. Except for the arctic and desert regions, Indonesia, the Pacific Islands, and Asia north of the Himalayas, the species can be found practically wherever. For the most part, the Barn owl is nocturnal. However, the owl hunts throughout the day in parts of the United Kingdom and the Pacific Islands.

• According to brokerage firms, SEBI’s proposal to consider all orders generated by an application programming interface (API) as algorithmic or algo trades could stifle the expansion of such Trading in India. Any order generated utilizing automatic execution logic is referred to as algo trading. When all requirements are met, the algo trading system automatically monitors livestock prices and places an order. This technology relieves the trader of the responsibility of watching livestock prices and placing manual orders.

• Typhoon Rai struck the Philippines’ south-eastern region on 16 December 2021, bringing torrential rains and flooding and displacing people across a vast area. The Rai typhoon was the country’s 15th significant meteorological disturbance in 2021. With sustained gusts of 120 miles per hour, it quickly strengthened into a super typhoon. Gusts of up to 168 miles per hour were recorded. In the United States, this category corresponds to a Category 5 hurricane. Typhoon Rai is known as Typhoon Odette in the Philippines. It is a violent tropical storm that has made landfall in the Philippines after passing close to the island of Palau.

• A new generation Nuclear-Capable Ballistic Missile called Agni P was test-fired by DRDO on 18 December. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s island off the coast of Odisha was the launch site for Agni P. Several telemetries, electro-optical stations, radar, and downrange ships positioned along the eastern coast followed and monitored the missile’s trajectory and parameters. Agni P followed a textbook trajectory and met the mission’s goals with great precision. Agni P is a two-stage solid-propellant ballistic missile with a redundant navigation and guidance system.
