• Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) enables map services in “UMANG App”. MeitY has enabled map services in the UMANG App through an MoU with MapmyIndia which is a private firm. The integration of UMANG with MapmyIndia Maps will enable the citizens to find government facilities.

• School Innovation Ambassador Training Program (SIATP) has been launched to enhance the innovation capability of the students. The SIATP programme aims at nurturing students with innovation capabilities, develop them a culture of innovation and lay the base of a new and vibrant India.

• Foundation Day of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research is on 16th July. And this year is the 93rd foundation day. Indian Council Agriculture Research is an autonomous body responsible for coordinating agricultural education and research in India.

• There happened a casual vacancy in the Council of States from West Bengal because of the member’s resignation before his term expired. Rajya Sabha (RS) is a permanent House of the parliament and is not subject to dissolution. However, one-third of Members of the Rajya Sabha retire after every 2nd year.

• The UN observes July 18 every year as Nelson Mandela International Day. This day acknowledges Nelson Mandela’s contribution to the struggle for democracy and the promotion of a culture of peace all over the globe. This day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change.

• Science Exploration Day is also called Moon Day. Moon Day is marked every year on July 20. In 1969, Neil Armstrong and Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin became the first humans to land on the Moon’s surface. The origins of Space Exploration Day date back to man first walking on the moon, with the day itself first observed to commemorate this historical event during events held in the early 1970s. Neil Armstrong was said to be the 1st man to set foot on the surface of the moon.

• Bank of Maharashtra and the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU is to boost ongoing developmental initiatives linked to priority sector lending in Maharashtra. It is on a collaborative approach to enhance rural prosperity through the convergence.

• China has reported the 1st human infection case with the Monkey B virus (BV). Monkey B virus is an alphaherpesvirus enzootic (endemic) in macaques, and it was initially isolated in 1932. Alphaherpesviruses are pathogens or neuroinvasive viruses that establish lifelong infections in the peripheral nervous system of humans.

• The International Chess Day is celebrated each and every on 20 July, since 1966. International Chess Day celebrates one of the most ancient and most popular games in history. The game promotes fairness, equality, mutual respect, and understanding among nations.
