• Anahat Singh becomes the first Indian girl to become the winner of the Jr. Squash Open In the US. Anahat Singh, an Indian teen, has made history by winning the prestigious Junior US Open Squash tournament in Philadelphia in the U-15 girls’ category.

• Every year on December 24, National Consumer Rights Day is observed. The Consumer Protection Act of 1986 was signed into law on this day in 1986 by President Ronald Reagan. The Act aims to protect consumers from a variety of forms of exploitation, including defective goods, service deficiencies, and unfair trade practices.

• On the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Dasna, Ghaziabad, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari unveiled India’s first “Intelligent Transport System.” This system was created in order to reduce traffic congestion and improve commuter safety.

• Hong Kong’s oldest university launched an overnight operation on December 23, 2021, to demolish a statue commemorating people killed in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square. Following democracy protests two years ago, China is currently remolding Hong Kong in its own authoritarian image.

• China’s Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) began reviewing a draught amendment to the “Law on Protection of Women’s Rights and Interests” on 20 December. The amendment was proposed in the wake of an increase in sexual harassment and domestic violence cases, as well as the year-long #MeToo movement.

• For the advancement of its “artificial sun,” China conducted a nuclear fusion experiment. Hefei Institute of Physical Science launched the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) heating system in December 2021. The goal of the EAST heating system experiment was to make the artificial sun or auxiliary heating.

• The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, has approved the establishment of a “State General Category Commission” for the unreserved classes. The Commission will protect the rights of unreserved classes and assist in the effective implementation of various welfare programs.

• The first successful test flight of the Pralay short-range surface-to-surface missile took place on 22 December. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha was used to test the Pralay ballistic missile. The missile followed the desired quasi-ballistic trajectory and landed with pinpoint accuracy on the designated target.
