• Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu presented the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Award for National Integration and National Contribution 2021 on 3 October. Awards were presented to “Shillong Chamber Choir”, the Assam branch of Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust, and writer Nirod Kumar Baruah.

• National Wildlife Week is annually celebrated across India between 2nd to 8 October to guard and preserve flora and fauna of India. The Wildlife Week 2021 is widely known from 2 October to 8 October. In 2021, India is commemorating 67th Wildlife Week.

• World Day for Farmed Animals (WDFA) is celebrated on 2 October, marking Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The day is organized by the International animals’ welfare organization, World Animal Protection, alongside Asia for Animals alliance.

• India Sri Lanka, a bilateral joint exercise called Mitra Shakti’s 8th edition was conducted from 4 October to 15 October at Ampara in Sri Lanka. In the joint exercise, all arms contingent of 120 personnel from the Indian Army will participate alongside the battalion of the Sri Lankan Army.

• Khadi Village Industries Commission (KVIC) prepared the world’s most enormous Khadi national flag and Unveiled it In Leh. During the 152nd birth anniversary of Gandhi alongside the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence, lieutenant governor of Ladakh, R. K Mathur, unveiled the monumental national flag at an occasion.

• Bangladesh Naval Ship (BNS) Somudra Avijan arrived in Visakhapatnam on a five-day Eastern Naval Command (ENC) visit on 3 October. This visit by the Bangladesh Navy is to honour the birth anniversary of the father of the nation, Bandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Swarnim Vijay Varsh.

• World Habitat Day is celebrated on 4 October to raise awareness of the state of our habitats and the fundamental right of all to sufficient shelter. The world habitat day was first celebrated in 1986 with the theme “Shelter is my right”. World Habitat day 2021 theme is “Accelerating urban action for a carbon-free world.” The day was set to reflect on our towns and cities’ state and the fundamental right to adequate shelter.
