• Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan won the 2021 Nobel Prize for Chemistry. Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan won the Nobel Prize for the development of asymmetric organocatalysis.

• Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh complimented the winners of the defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), ‘Dare to Dream 2.0’ Contest in New Delhi on 4 October. The Raksha Mantri presented the awards to 40 winners – 22 within the Individual category and 18 within the Startup level.

• To mark the 75th year of Independence and showcase Republic Day Celebrations of the year 2022, the Ministry of Defence has created a new website. The website was formally launched by Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar in New Delhi on 4 October. The website was launched as a way to connect Indians all over the world.

• World Teachers day is commemorated on 5 October by UNESCO, to celebrate all the teachers worldwide. The World Teachers Day has been held every year to celebrate all the teachers worldwide since 1994. The Theme for World Teachers Day 2021 is ‘Teachers at the heart of education recovery’.

• Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu has inaugurated the Mahabahu Brahmaputra Heritage Centre within the state of Assam. Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were present at the occasion in Guwahati within the state of Assam.

• Professor Eric A. Hanushek and Dr. Rukmini Banerji are awarded the 2021 Yidan Prize for Education Development. The 2021 Yidan Prize for Education Development was awarded to Prof. Hanushek and Dr. Rukmini for improving learning outcomes in schools at scale.

• A scheme For Good Samaritans By Road Transport Ministry was launched on 4 October. The scheme is going to be effective from 15 October and ends in 2026 on 31, March. Under the scheme, a cash award of Rs 5,000 is going to be provided per accident.

• The Mental Health Awareness Campaign week is observed from 5 October by the Ministry of Health. The Campaign is from 5 October to 10 October as the last day of observed as World Mental Health Day. The week-long campaign is aimed to encourage people’s participation in knowing about Mental Disorders.

• The Heli- Borne Survey Technology is launched by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh on 5 October. The Heli Borne Survey is launched for groundwater management in its first phase in Rajasthan, Punjab, Gujarat and Haryana. The Survey started on 5 October in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

• The Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare has incorporated ‘Electronic Pension Payment Order’ (EPPO) within the Digi Locker. Electronic Pension Payment Order is created by the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (PCDA) Pension, Allahabad.

• Chief Minister MK Stalin launched facial recognition software to assist police officials in their investigation on 4 October. The software can compare photos of the suspects with data that have been uploaded in the CCTNS, which will, in turn, help the police personnel in their investigation.
