• The United States and Iran will begin negotiations through intermediaries in an attempt to re-reach an agreement restricting Iran’s nuclear program. The announcement marked significant progress in the efforts to return the two countries to the 2015 accord, which has restricted Iran and restricted its nuclear program in exchange for relief from U.S. and international sanctions.

• According to a study published in the journal The Lancet Global Health, the health system failed to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to increased maternal deaths and stillbirths. Overall, the chance of stillbirth has increased by 28%. The mother’s risk of dying during pregnancy or childbirth increased by about one third. Maternal depression has also increased.

• The Union Health Minister approves the National Policy for Rare Diseases, 2021. The Rare Disease Policy aims to reduce the high cost of treatment of rare diseases by paying more attention to indigenous research with the help of the national consortium convened by the Department of Health Research of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

• The National Bureau of Statistics under the Ministry of Statistics and Planning and Implementation (MoSPI) recently released the “Indian Men and Women” report. The report consolidates important socio-economic indicators that reflect the gender situation in the country. This is the 22nd issue of the series. The report is published annually by MoSPI. he estimated population of India in 2021 is 13.613 million.

• UNESCO released the World 2030: Public Survey Report. The organization released the report based on surveys conducted from May 2020 to September 2020. The survey collected feedback from more than 15,000 people around the world. According to the report, climate change, violence and conflict, loss of biodiversity, discrimination and inequality, water and housing, and insufficient food are the four major challenges facing a peaceful society in 2030.

• The Japan Meteorological Agency recently announced that the cherry blossoms in Japan are in full bloom. Usually, Japanese cherry trees bloom in April. This time the cherry blossoms are ten days earlier. This is the first cherry blossom tree that bloomed earlier in Japan. In the past, the earliest cherry blossoms in Japan occurred before 1200. According to Osaka University in Japan, the flowering time of cherry trees was in early 812 AD.
