• India will vote in favour of the Maldives in the election of the President of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on June 7th. The President is the General Assembly’s presiding officer. The UNGA member countries vote for the President on a yearly basis.

• Under the Clean Energy Ministerial’s (CEM) Industrial Deep Decarbonization Initiative (IDDI), India and the United Kingdom launched a new workstream to promote industrial energy efficiency. UNIDO is in charge of coordinating it (United Nations Development Industrial organisation).

• NTPC has joined the CEO Water mandate of the United Nations. The CEO Water Mandate is a UN Global Compact initiative that encourages companies to demonstrate their commitment and efforts to improve their water and sanitation agendas as part of long-term Sustainable Development Goals.

• The National Medicinal Plant Board and the National Botanical Research Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the cultivation and production of medicinal plants. The MoU will make it easier to develop Quality Planting Material (QPM) from medicinal plants and herbs identified by the NMPB.

• SPAG9, India’s First Indigenous Tumor Antigen, has been trademarked by DBT-NII. Dr. Anil Suri, who heads the Cancer Research Program at NII (National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi), discovered India’s first indigenous tumour antigen SPAG9 in 1998.

• Indian Railways are on their way to becoming the world’s “largest green railways,” with zero carbon emissions. Dedicated freight corridors are being developed into a low-carbon green transportation network with a long-term low-carbon roadmap.

• A Model Panchayat Citizens Charter was published by the Union Minister of Rural Development. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), has prepared a Model Panchayat Citizens Charter/framework for service delivery across 29 sectors.

• INS Sandhayak, the Indian Navy’s oldest hydrographic survey ship, has been decommissioned. The Navy’s oldest hydrographic survey ship, INS Sandhayak, was decommissioned after 40 years of service to the nation.

• A planning guide issued for the Production Linked Incentive plan of Indian manufacturers of white goods (air conditioners and LED lights). The Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has issued guidelines for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods (Air Conditioners and LED Lights) manufacturers.

• Film Division is organizing an online festival on the environment referred to as “Oasis of Hope” on World Environment Day 2021. Oasis of hope festival will be organized on 5th and sixth June 2021 to mark the significance of world environment day (WED).

• Every year, World Pest Day (also often referred to as World Pest Awareness Day) is determined on 06 June. The primary purpose of the day is to expand public, government, and media recognition of the essential position pest management corporation plays in protecting public health, project the professional image of the pest administration.

• Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, launched the YounTab scheme for students. Under the scheme, about 12,300 tabs had been allotted amongst them in Leh. About the Scheme: It is an initiative of the Department of School Education. It was launched with the technical assistance of the Information Technology Department.

• Nitin Rakesh and Jerry Wind won the International Business Book of the Year Award 2021. The authors made history this week via prevailing the prestigious International Business Book of the Year Award for 2021 for their currently launched e-book “Transformation in Times of Crisis”, published by means of Notion Press.

• World Food Safety Day is determined on seventh June globally. The day aims to elevate cognizance about unique foodborne dangers and the measures of how to stop them.

• Every year, on 6th June, the United Nations (UN) celebrated Russian Language Day. UNESCO founded on this day in 2010. The UN Russian Language Day is celebrated on the birthday of Aleksandr Pushkin. Pushkin was a Russian Poet and is regarded as the father of current Russian literature.
