• India has grown to be the first country in Asia to launch a Plastics Pact, a new platform to promote a round system for plastics. The India Plastic Pact platform was launched on September 03, 2021, by the British High Commissioner to India, Alexander Ellis, at the 16th Sustainability Summit hosted by the Confederation of Indian.

• In view of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, the Ministry of AYUSH has launched a campaign titled AYUSH AAPKE DWAR, which aims to distribute medicinal plant saplings to 75 lakh households in one year. The campaign was once inaugurated by the Union Minister of AYUSH Sarbananda Sonowal from Mumbai.

• To commemorate 75 years of independence of India, the Government of India is celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Food Processing Industries Ministry is observing Food Processing Week as a part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav from sixth to 12th September 2021.

• Suhas Lalinakere Yathiraj, current district magistrate of Noida, has become the first IAS officer to win a Paralympics medal. Background: He ended his marketing campaign with the winning of ancient silver. He lost gold to top seed Lucas Mazur of France in the men’s singles SL4 type closing at the Tokyo Paralympics on September 5.

• The Government of Tamil Nadu announced its plan to set up 1st Dugong Conservation Reserve of India in the Palk Bay on the southeast coast. Dugong is an endangered marine mammal. Dugong is also known as Sea Cow. It is facing extinction due to the fact of habitat loss, sea pollution, and loss of seagrass.

• The International Day of Clean Air for blue skies is observed globally on September 07 to promote and facilitate movements to enhance air quality. It is an UN-recognised day that aims to elevate public focus at all levels (individual, community, corporate and government) that easy air is essential for health, productivity and the financial system too.

• The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Co., Ltd. carried out a indigenously renovation and modernization of its 180 MW Baira Siul power station and began commercial operations. Highlights: The project is in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district. The Baira Siul Power Station is the first power station of NHPC.
